Following on from the successful partnership with RMIT and the outstanding success of the launch of HIV Unwrapped at the ASHM Australasian HIV&AIDS Conference Sydney, the project was invited to present the work at Melbourne Fashion Week 2024.
The 12 garments that were created as part of this pilot project went on display throughout this week at the Peter Doherty Institute of Infection and Immunity and there were two discussion sessions held at the institute during the week. These two sessions explored the creative co-design process between the HIV research scientist and their fashion design partner.
The first session focused upon the partnership between KATRINA KAN + HANS KEK
as well as the partnership between CASSIDY EDE + JILLIAN LAU
The second discussion session focused upon the partnership between HAO WEI LIM (AIDEN) + SARAH AMIR HAMZAH and the partnership between CLARE MORGAN + BRIDGET M FISHER.
Following from the discussions that were held as part of Melbourne Fashion Week, we were able to bring together all of the garments from the initial collection from the RMIT students as part of the mHIVE World AIDS Day forum held at the RMIT campus. At this event we were able to focus on the partnership between HARLENE DEL ROSARIO + SARA BYRNES.
